Who we are

A family that came to stay

We are a Brazilian Christian family who came to northern Albania to live among Albanians, learn their language and culture, serve the community and share the gospel of Jesus Christ through relationships.

Ours is a long-term mission: we do not simply want to run activities, but to build relationships that last and that contribute to the rise of a healthy, Albanian-led Albanian church.

We are connected to local churches in Brazil and to a cross-cultural mission agency committed to the growth of the gospel among our “cousins”. We serve the Kingdom of God, not a particular denomination.

  • Live among

Living in town, shopping at the same market, having coffee with the neighbours. Presence before programmes.

  • Learn first

The Albanian language and culture come before any activity. To serve well, you first have to understand.

  • Build together

The goal is not a Brazilian church in Albania, but an Albanian church led by Albanians.

Context

Why Has, and why now

Albania has a singular religious history: decades of communist rule interrupted organised religious life, and after the fall of communism different traditions returned to public life. Today the country is majority Muslim by tradition, with a wide diversity of practice.

Recent years have seen significant investment in Islamic religious structures — the Namazgah Mosque, opened in Tirana in 2024 at an estimated cost of €30 million with funding from the Turkish Diyanet, is the most visible example. There is also a proposal to recognise a sovereign entity of the Bektashi Order in the capital.

In the region where we live, the vast majority of people identify as Muslim. Has is the only province in the country with no active Christian church at all — neither Catholic nor Orthodox.

The Christian presence we seek

  • Respectful

We honour the history, hospitality and faith of those who welcomed us. We did not come to confront.

  • Contextualised

An expression of faith that speaks Albanian and makes sense within the culture of Has.

  • Relational

The gospel travels over bridges of friendship, not over mass strategies.

  • Biblical

Faithful to what the Scriptures teach, with no shortcuts and nothing watered down.

  • Long-term

We think in decades, not campaigns. Trust is built slowly.

We are not here to compete with a religion. We are here to serve people, introduce them to Jesus and teach them to follow him.

Our dream

An Albanian church in Has

We dream of seeing a healthy, biblical, relevant and Albanian-led Christian church born in Has — with an expression of faith fully integrated into the local culture. Today there are 7 Latin American missionaries working towards it.

We dream of a community that serves the town as a whole, through faith, education, sport and relationships. In time, that could take shape as a multi-purpose centre open to everyone:

What we picture

  • Sports hall
  • Rooms for languages, music and the arts
  • After-school tutoring
  • Spaces for children and families
  • Sports and social projects
  • After-school activities

We are not dreaming of a building, but of a living community present in the town every single day.

How we plan to get there

Three cycles, one purpose

Cross-cultural mission does not happen over a weekend. Our plan is organised into three cycles of roughly three years each, and every cycle prepares the ground for the next.

  1. 1st cycle2025 — 2028

    We are here

    Acculturation

    Ploughing the ground

    • Learn the Albanian language and culture
    • Live among the people, in the daily life of the town
    • Build relationships of trust
    • Identify the community's real needs
  2. 2nd cycle2028 — 2031

    Development

    Sowing the seed

    • Expand the initiatives already under way
    • Deepen the relationships we have built
    • Share the gospel intentionally
    • Begin discipling the first seekers
  3. 3rd cycle2031 — 2034

    Fruit and training

    Harvesting and raising leaders

    • Baptisms and new disciples
    • Training of local leaders
    • Equipping Albanians to take on leadership
    • A self-sustaining church, led by Albanians

The projects

Our bridges

Today there are 4 Latin American families serving in Krumë through two projects that are open to the whole community. You do not need to be a Christian to take part — and you never did.

Sporting Has

Football for children and teenagers

A football project that uses sport as a tool for character: discipline, respect, teamwork and, above all, relationships that carry on well beyond the pitch.

  • Regular training for children and teenagers
  • Discipline, respect and teamwork
  • Close follow-up of every participant
  • Open to the whole community

Edukart

Education, culture and art after school

Educational and cultural activities outside school hours: language teaching, musical instruments and handicrafts. A place where the children of Krumë discover their talents and are truly seen.

  • Language classes
  • Musical instruments
  • Handicrafts and creative workshops
  • Support with schoolwork

The projects are open to the community. You do not need to be a Christian to take part.

Our budget

Transparency, held in trust

We believe that those who walk with us have the right to know exactly where things stand. These are the monthly support figures for our family on the field.

Planned monthly budget
€2,500/month
Current average received
€1,500/month
Average monthly shortfall
€1,000/month

60% of the monthly budget covered

€1,500 / €2,500

We share these numbers the way you open your front door to a friend, not the way you send an invoice. God has sustained our family so far through generous people, and we keep trusting that he will continue to do so.

See how to get involved

What the budget covers

  • Housing and rent
  • Food
  • Healthcare
  • Transport
  • Family expenses
  • The needs of daily life and missionary work

Get involved

There are many ways to walk with us

Everyone contributes differently. Prayer, friendship, spreading the word and financial support are all part of the same work — pick the door that makes sense for you.

  • Family financial support

A monthly or one-off contribution towards the family's support on the field: housing, food, healthcare and transport.

  • Project support

Directed to Sporting Has: sports equipment, kit, pitch hire and the running costs of training.

  • Educational support

Directed to Edukart: teaching materials, musical instruments and supplies for the art workshops.

  • Infrastructure support

Towards the medium-term dream: a multi-purpose space of our own to serve the town every day.

  • Institutional partnership

For companies and organisations wishing to support the project regularly or sponsor a specific area of work.
